Available in a wide range of colors, this machine has a 400 watt motor and a four and half quart capacity (stainless steel bowl included). The handled bowl locks in place, and the standard unit comes with bread hook and beaters. The head tilts up to make attachment replacement or bowl removal more convenient, and is a good choice for the average cook, and will easily handle even the stiffest bread dough. This model is priced between $160 and $185, depending on retailer.
For a lower priced, more basic model, Hamilton Beach offers a convertible Hand/Stand Mixer. With 290 watts of power, this six speed mixer is perfect for those whose main use of a mixer is to beat a cake batter or whip potatoes. It comes with dough hooks, beaters, and a whisk, and can be purchased for $45 to $65 from a wide range of retailers. This model is a good choice for cooks who use a hand mixer most of the time but would like the option of “multi-tasking”, taking care of other chores while the stand mixer whips the egg whites or mixes the biscuit dough. A four quart stainless steel bowl is standard with this unit.
